Laser Processing Capability
Precision
Profiles Plus has one of the largest laser processing facilities
in Western Canada. A total of 5 laser cutters provide unsurpassed metal
processing capacity. This high capacity coupled with the precision
and cleanliness which eliminates a majority of secondary operations
ensures large jobs can be done on time and on budget.
The
most common materials processed are mild steel, aluminium, and stainless
steel. Other materials can be cut on request. |
Tanaka
LMX III 6000 Laser
This 6000
Watt gantry
style flat-bed laser has been in operation since 2003.
Tanaka is the manufacturer of the largest plate lasers in the world.
The 6000 is currently one of a very few of it’s kind in
North America, with only 2 in western Canada. This glazer
cutter has a table size of 8 ft. x 57 ft. (2.43 m x 17.4 m). Additional
track can be added to make the table even longer. The Tanaka 6000
is capable of cutting efficiently on steel plate up to 1-1/4 in.
(32 mm) thick. |

Tanaka
LMX V 4000 W Laser
The
4000 Watt Tanaka unit was brought in by Precision Profiles in 2004.
This unit has a table size of 10 ft. x 42 ft. (3 m x 12.8 m), and can
cut steel plate efficiently at thickness up to 1 in. (25 mm)
Both
Tanaka units have bed capacity to allow the units to cut one job
while another job is being prepared. Effectively, the lasers never
have to stop cutting. |

Mazak Mark II 4000 W Lasers
Precision
Profiles operates three upright style Mazak Mark II 4000 watt lasers.
Each of these three lasers operate on a 5
ft. x 10 ft. (1.5 m x 3 m) table and capable of cutting up to 3/4"
(19mm) thick material.
These three lasers
are tied together with an automated FMS (flexible material
storage) system. A plate storage rack at one end of the FMS system
holds up to 20 tons (18,000 kg) of various thickness of plate.
As programmers load the jobs, the FMS system can pick the required
sheet, place it on the bed, then pickup the finished cut pieces
and deliver them to the offload table for pickup. This system
allows for "lights-out" operation (overnight) without
human supervision. An automated warning system calls the technicians
if there are any issues that arise when in "lights-out" mode. |

CNC Oxy-Fuel Torch
The CNC oxy-fuel torch was purchased when Precision Profiles was started in
1991. It is still used today for cutting material over 1 in. (25mm) in
thickness. Up to 6 heads (torches) can be used at one time. Natural
gas is normally used to cut product, but the fuel is switched to acetylene
when cutting material 4 in. (102 mm) thick and over.
